Summer Sailing/Watersports Camp

Dates:

Monday, June 16, 2008, through Friday, August 15, 2008 – A total of 9 weeks.

No camp on Friday, July 4th.

No camp during lobster mini-season: July 30th and 31st.

Camps are Monday through Friday from 9am to noon. If the morning session fills up in advance we will open up an afternoon session.

Fees:

$125 if entire calendar week is booked and paid in advance. $25 discount for Islamorada residents

$30/session if space is available, $5 discount for Islamorada residents

All sailing and other activities is weather permitting and at the discretion of the instructor. This year we have 2 more certified instructors. We’re welcoming a couple new faces this summer: Jim Mahorner and Michael Mierswa.

The camp will provide cold bottled water. Please apply sunscreen to your child. PFDs (personal flotation devices) are available, but your child may prefer to wear their own personal one. You may wish to send them with a hat, sunglasses, a snack, towel, change of dry clothes.

In the event of severe storms and/or lightning (it’s hurricane season) a session may be cancelled entirely and a make-up date scheduled, or you may be contacted to pick your child up earlier than noon. We will do our best to contact participants as soon as possible if there is a weather-related cancellation. You are encouraged to call our office if there is any question about the weather conditions.

Minimum age is 7, most participants are 10-12 years old.

No sailing experience is required. Participants will receive instruction appropriate for their skill level no matter when they join the program.

Other current and ongoing events in 2008

July 4: Mongo beach party at Islamorada Founders Park. Details to follow, but we are a major sponsor providing boats, staffing, equipment, giveaways and prizes. Party is from noon to 4 p.m.

November 28-30 (Thanksgiving Weekend): Hobie Wave Youth Nationals. (View Flyer)

Weekly afternoon sailing sessions:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30-4:30pm, $35 per session and Islamorada residents receive a $10 discount. No experience required.
Reservations recommended.

We also offer:

• Team building events
• Birthday parties (young and not as young)
• Pre-wedding activities, etc.
  
  We prefer to book these as sailing activities, but we are glad to substitute or mix-in pedaling, paddling and other beach activities. Let us help you plan your next event.
  

Go sailing with Mom or Dad!

Take your Mom or Dad for a special day of sailing on their special Mothers' and Fathers' days, and receive 2 complimentary beverages at a local restaurant.

• No experience required – our certified instructors will show you how.
• $35 for 1 hour
• $55 for 2 hours
